Fur: (n) The thick, soft coat covering a mammal’s body…NOT a human’s

Years ago a woman wouldn’t dare to even step out onto the street wearing fur for fear of being assaulted by a mob of angry animal rights protestors. Today it seems that the protests have failed to the extent where some top designers are including fur on every item possible in their winter ’06 Collections.

This winter top designers seem to have forgotten the outrage fur once caused. Forgotten are the many protests and hatred towards flaunting a thick glossy coat of mink or fox down the famous fashion runways. Still, the new waves of stick thin models need something to keep them warm.
It’s not only the catwalks flaunting this obscene and disgusting trend, let me list to you a multitude of female celebrities spotted recently, wearing all kinds of animal fur.
Keira Knightly elegantly modelling the particularly horrid Astrakhan fur, taken from a lamb foetus, cut prematurely from the womb before its’ tight black curls have unfurled.
Kate Moss, one of the most highly paid and sort after models in the world, has recently been seen in her monkey and rabbit fur Mukluk boots. It seems like she now has the animal kingdom falling at her feet or should I say attached to them.
Other celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Jade Jagger, and Nicole Ritchie have all joined in with this vile fashion trend probably not even thinking twice about what their beloved fur coat was ripped from.
The sad fact is that even when celebrities do realise what ghastly things happened to the hundreds of innocent puppies or rabbits before their gorgeous garments were created, is that they ignore it or worse claim, in not so many words, that their coat is made of ‘animal friendly fur’. Take Beyonce for example. She recently refused to watch a video sent from the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) organisation – which showed the ill-treatment of the animals on fur farms and then the singer claimed all fur that she wore is animal friendly. How that works I don’t know.

Even so called ‘fake’ fur is sometimes not what it seems. Ever thought about wearing your pet cat ‘Fluffy’ around your hood or lining your brand new coat with ‘Rover’ your beloved family dog? No. I wouldn’t have thought so. This is what you could be wearing without realising. Most big name brands are dead against using real animal fur in their products but be sure. Check, before you innocently fund this cruel and brutal trade.

Gee: I assume you mean ‘fur is great when it’s still attached to the animal that produced it’?

Yes i meant fur on animals is great, and we shouldn’t take it as that woudl get in teh way of evelotuion happening properly. Cosidering we have screwed this chain up already i think we should not wear fur. However, people buy it so businesses will sell it. Its liek Big BRother, peopel watched it, so why teh hell would they pull the plug? Wow, ive gone deep on a little comment
